2011 Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Blancpain car interior

SEVILLE, Spain—In a region famous for its bullfighting rings resides Circuito Monteblanco, a newly built racetrack just 30 miles west of the Andalusian capital. Fittingly, this FIA-approved (Federation Internationale de l'Automobile) facility was the site of the international media launch for the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera—the latest raging bull from Sant'Agata.

Lamborghinis, like all sports cars, have gained some serious weight since they debuted in 1963. When the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 arrived in 2009, it was praised for being lighter and more powerful than its predecessor. The new LP570-4 Superleggera, 10 hp fiercer than the LP560-4, is the lightest road-going car in Lamborghini's lineup, and boasts a number of track-inspired tweaks.

The Specs
The Superleggera weighs in at 3241 pounds, which means it trims 154 pounds of fat off the base Gallardo, thanks mostly to Lamborghini's partnership with Boeing—builders of the composite-intensive 787 Dreamliner. Eighty-eight pounds of the weight savings is due to the implementation of carbon-fiber replacement parts—rear spoiler, side mirrors, seat shells, door panels. Inside, the leather upholstery has been replaced with lighter weight Alcantara, though air conditioning and power windows remain, for civility's sake. Polycarbonate rear and side windows, and a polycarbonate engine cover further reduce mass, and forged-aluminum 19-inch wheels attached with titanium bolts save an additional 28 pounds.

Motivating the remaining mass is a 5.2-liter V10, which produces 10 additional horsepower thanks to a new engine-management strategy. Maximum acceleration is produced in Thrust mode, which dumps the clutch at 5000 rpm; using said electronic trickery, the Superleggera achieves 62 mph in 3.4 seconds—a third of a second quicker than the standard-issue LP560-4—while 124 mph can be reached from a standstill in 10.2 seconds. Lamborghini's eGear automated manual is the standard transmission, though traditionalists can order a gated six-speed manual at no additional cost. Power is routed to all four wheels via a permanent all-wheel-drive system, which uses a central viscous coupling and a default torque split of 30:70, front-to-rear.

Lamborghini used firsthand experience from its Blancpain Super Trofeo race series to retune the Superleggera's suspension and chassis for sharper handling and greater high-speed stability. It's a tight ride. The double-wishbone suspension's shocks are 20 percent stiffer, the antiroll bars are thicker, and the bushings are 90 percent more rigid.

It's stiffer, but it's also slicker. Modified underbody covers, new sill elements, larger front air intakes, and a redesigned rear diffuser help manage airflow. The standard carbon-fiber spoiler produces as much as 50 percent more downforce than the non-Superleggera Gallardo, and an even larger spoiler is available as an option.

To bring this Italian spaceship to a halt, a pair of eight-piston brakes up front and a set of four-piston rear units clamp down hard. Carbon-ceramic brakes are available, equipped with larger 380-mm discs at the front wheels, and two fewer pistons.

The Superleggera is a $32,600 premium over the LP560-4, priced at $237,600. As we discovered at Circuito Monteblanco, it's money well spent.

2011 Opel GTC Paris cars wallpapers

In line with Opel’s strategy to turbo-charge for efficient performance, the GTC Paris is powered by a small displacement, twin-scroll turbo-charged four-cylinder with direct injection - a range-topping 2.0-liter Turbo equipped with a six-speed manual transmission. . This punchy engine packs 213 kW/290 hp. Double camshaft phasing and twin balance shafts provide the basis of the engine’s impressive performance data. In addition, an Limited Slip Differential helps control traction without limiting the torque of this state-of-the-art turbo engine.

Yet with all this performance, environmental responsibility is not forgotten: Start/Stop technology keeps emissions and noise down in the urban traffic. This keeps the GTC Paris frugal without diminishing its sporty character.
Innovative technology enhances performance

The best of Opel’s compact car technology is brought to its sportiest level on this concept car. The chassis has a special design with an extra-wide stance for best possible performance and handling. In addition to the front limited slip differential, it has a compound crank with an Opel-exclusive Watt’s Link in the rear, and a new execution of the adaptive mechatronic FlexRide suspension..

Infiniti's passion for cars - and the art, craft and technology that goes into making them so special - is given full rein at the 2010 Paris Motor Show with the debut of the Infiniti IPL G Cabrio Concept.

Infiniti's most seductive car, appropriately unveiled in one of Europe's most romantic cities, builds on the fine looks and sporting nature of the production G Cabrio to raise the temperature in the luxury cabriolet stakes.

Resplendent in new Malbec Black - a pearlescent black paint with red hints - and Monaco Red leather interior complemented by unique new cabin inlays inspired by the finessed craftsmanship of samurai armour, the ultimate G Cabrio in concept form is a bespoke and very exclusive fulfilment of Infiniti design values.

As well as previewing a dramatic new look and classically luxurious cabin, the world's sexiest four-seat cabriolet with electric folding hard-top - probably - provides a tantalising vision of a new range of Infiniti models to extend the Japanese brand's reach further into the performance car market.

The Paris debut follows on from the unveiling in the USA in August of the first production Infiniti Performance Line variant, the G Coupé, with which the IPL badge has been launched in North America.

The Infiniti IPL G Cabrio Concept shares many of the IPL G Coupé's enhancements, all carefully calculated to take the Infiniti experience up a level. The IPL brief is to redefine total vehicle performance, so while power, acceleration and handling all benefit, so do more emotive aspects like the sound of the engine, the look of the details and the feel of the materials.

Sculptured side sill extensions work with the bigger wheels and slightly lowered body to accentuate the purposeful new stance. A body-colour bootlid spoiler, based on the aerodynamic design of that fitted to the IPL G Coupé, adorns the rear.

The interior trim finishers are unique to the Paris concept. The centre console is finished with black lacquer while the dashboard area above the glove box and doors are adorned with KACCHU, the name given to the armour used by Japan's feudal warlords, or samurai, in the Middle Ages. Small iron plates were woven through textile to provide not just great strength but also flexibility and light weight. Because the highly skilled process allowed for a multitude of colours and patterns, the most elaborate KACCHU designs were a sign of great power and wealth.

Under the bonnet of the Infiniti IPL G Cabrio Concept is Infiniti's charismatic 3.7-litre V6 boasting 338 PS, 18 PS more than standard thanks to a high-flow dual exhaust system. It doesn't just sound great but also reduces exhaust pressure by 30%, further enhancing engine efficiency. The point at which peak power is developed has been boosted, from 7000 to 7400 rpm - high revs which the VQ engine's motor racing-inspired "bed plate" construction technique can take in its stride.

Maximum torque output is increased - from 360 to 374 Nm - but most important the shape of the torque curve has been refined so performance doesn't feel in any way peaky, maintaining the linear acceleration so crucial to any Infiniti.

The Cabrio Concept's running gear has been upgraded, again following the lead set by the IPL G Coupé. Sports suspension, with 10% stiffer springs and recalibrated dampers, are fitted and the body sits a little lower.

Top speed of the de-restricted concept car, which has a seven speed automatic transmission with magnesium paddle shifts, is more than 270 km/h, with 0-100 km/h available in under 6 seconds.

Nothing in the IPL philosophy calls for a let-up in the provision of features as standard. The Infiniti IPL G Cabrio Concept maintains this Infiniti advantage by being superbly well equipped with an array of innovative comfort, convenience and safety technologies - just like the GT Premium model on which it is based and which has been available as part of the G Line in Infiniti Centres across Europe for more than a year.

So in league with the high performance looks and ability are features such as noise-cancelling technology, head restraint-mounted "personal" speakers, seats with internal heating and cooling and adaptive climate control. The 13-speaker premium sound system is by Bose® while suggestions on where to visit, stay or eat and drink are sourced from the Michelin Guides directly into the 30 GB hard disk drive navigation. It's just one part of the all-encompassing functionality of the Connectiviti+ infotainment system which the G Cabrio first introduced to the world at the model's launch in 2009.

Dodge Magnum Cancellation

Wednesday, September 22, 2010

On November 1, 2007, Chrysler announced that, as part of its restructuring plans, the Dodge Magnum would be one of four models discontinued after the 2008 model year. In Chrysler's words: "The Magnum, along with the PT Cruiser convertible, the Crossfire, and the Pacifica were not earning their keep". The production ended in late March, 2008. The Dodge Magnum, (along with the short wheel base Dodge Caravan), has been replaced by the Dodge Journey.
