Also known as the ‘Lancer Sportback,’ the turbocharged Ralliart trim is a new sporty sedan with sleek handsome features and a number of impressive technologies.
It’s a hatch!
The Ralliart is a fair divide between sport and function; without any sacrifice. This sporty sedan knocks its 2.0-liter engine with enough power for a spunky performance. Buyers favor the twin-clutch transmission and the four-wheel drive system. Those who are partial to a thumping audio system may like it and its jukebox-like capabilities.
What makes this trim different from the Lancer sedans is by having a fifth door at the rear, or what is also known as a hatch (hence the term ‘hatchback’), which is sleek and sporty. This proves convenient in hoisting larger items.
Interiors and technology
ralliart interiorThe interiors while new may be a hard sell for the Ralliart trim. The standard for this Lancer Sportback are the Bluetooth hands-free phone and a proximity key with a keyless start. However, it looks cheap for a $30,000 sedan, the bucket seats are darned uncomfortable, and it lags behind its competitors especially in the tech-savvy market. The standard Ralliart comes with a Rockford Fosgate sound system which while it may look sophisticated, its quality is not as good as its brand claims. With 710 watts of power consumption from that system alone, it means a lot of power for such a small sedan. This sound system is boosted with nine speakers placed in different parts of the interiors with two subs located at the rear. It has more space with an expanded rear area that can accommodate over 52 cubic feet of cargo room and more if you fold the seats at the back.
Drive Run
The Ralliart is an impressive all-wheel drive that easily switches to driving in tarmac, gravel, and snow. All you need to do is just push the button at the screen for the mode of driving you need it to do, although it can hardly be a fit sedan for snow driving. This car can be left on a fully automatic mode, shifted by a stick, or shift paddles. It has a more relaxed manner like driving around town, unlike the impatient Evolution. It may not be as super stylish and hyper fast like the Lancer Evo, but it sure adds a little more fun on daily driving.
This sedan, while sporty, has its disadvantages though. It is quite pricey for its interiors, very thirsty, and could benefit from more power. For such a small car, the Lancer Sportback is HUGE on thirst. It chugs down gasoline like a thirsty sailor on a hot day. At 237-horsepower, it is remarkably low on power. With its pros and cons, the 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback Ralliart is a ‘just right’ performance car with a little spunk for your every day drive.
